About Me

I am a native of Illinois and now call southern Florida my home. I was the kid who played school on the weekends and summer so I was destined to be a teacher. I love teaching and have taught everything from preschool to 4th grade. I was a teacher of a multi-age first and second grade class for 13 years before moving to a gifted/high achieving fourth grade class 6 years ago. I have decided that my favorite grade is whatever I happen to be teaching. I am fortunate to call Country Hills Elementary School in Coral Springs, Florida my school home since 1992.

I hold a Masters Degree is in Curriculum and Instruction from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Physical Education from Millikin University. I’ve been honored to be Math Teacher of the Year at the last two schools where I have taught, received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Math and Science (an award given jointly by the White House and National Science Foundation) and was a finalist for Broward School District Elementary Teacher of the Year. I was also Broward’s Elementary Math Teacher of the Year.
