Isn't she lovely? She is a composite of rectangles that were individually created by each child in my class. After the fourth graders complete their rectangle portion of Miss Lisa we assemble all of the pieces into one large Mona Lisa. My fourth graders have been creating a replica of a photocopy page of Mona Lisa for the past 6 years and each of the Monas is more incredible than the others. The finished Mona is always six times the size of the photocopy version. This replica is a practice in ratio, measurement, multiplication, problem solving, and creativity.
Leonard da Vinci is always a fascinating and favorite study in springtime. We look at this genius as a scientist, naturalist, inventor, architect, and artist.
